Bat BnB partnered with Arizona Bat Rescue on a few tips for making a bat house successful in Arizona
Other tips for successful bat houses in Arizona
Don't follow advice for bat houses in very cold areas, Arizona bat houses are at risk of overheating even in milder climates.
Grow native plants, especially night blooming plants, to attract prey.
Provide a water source. (If you have a pool, please make sure to get some Froglogs to help any critters that fall in.)
Bat houses are more successful in rural areas. It is possible to have a successful bat house in the city but it is a lot less likely.
If you do get bats in your bat house, there will be a lot of poop under it. You can cover areas with a tarp or even put a planter below the house and get free fertilizer.
Add a pup catcher to your bat house if it doesn't come with one.
Be patient. It can take years for bat houses to be populated.
Check your bat house frequently for wasps or other unwanted residents.
Go to Bat BnB, Bat Conservation and Management, Bat Conservation International to purchase a bat house or get plans to build your own. It is best not to buy bat houses from other retailers that aren't specifically affiliated with bats. Some designs are actually dangerous for bats.
